Industry’s only 12.8 Tbps, low-latency programmable switch validated with robust low-power MACsec PHY to guarantee data privacy and security
SAN JOSE, Calif. March 4, 2020. Innovium, Inc., a leading provider of high performance, innovative switching solutions for data centers, and Credo, a global innovation leader in high-speed serial connectivity solutions, announced successful interoperability of Credo’s MACsec chip family with Innovium’s market-leading 12.8Tbps TERALYNX™ 7 switch silicon.
As cloud and data center customers are paying more attention to security, this interoperability enables them to deploy a MACsec enabled 1RU, 32 x 400G switch using Innovium’s 12.8Tbps TERALYNX 7 switch silicon and Credo’s CMS50216 Dual 400G MACsec chip. Both these products have been adopted by leading system partners and cloud companies.
“Leading cloud and data center customers are deploying 12.8Tbps TERALYNX based production switches with 400G ports to scale their networks, while reducing complexity, power and cost. Increasingly, customers want to secure 400G links to ensure data privacy, integrity and security,” said Amit Sanyal, VP of Product Management and Marketing at Innovium. “Innovium is excited to partner with Credo, to enable customers to deploy these switches with highly robust 400G MACsec for protection of 400G links against security breaches for applications such as data center interconnects.”
Innovium’s TERALYNX switch family delivers low latency, advanced telemetry, rich tunneling and programmability to enable unmatched visibility while protecting hardware investment by adapting to new network protocols. Innovium is the only provider offering robust PAM4 networking solutions with a consistent feature set for 1 to 12.8Tbps products today with architecture scaling to 51.2Tbps+. Innovium’s flagship production 12.8Tbps TERALYNX 7 has enabled market-leading OEM and ODM system partners to deliver highly innovative and robust switch solutions with a broad range of validated DAC/ACC cables and optics modules. Top cloud and data center customers are deploying TERALYNX switches to scale their networks and benefit from superior total cost of ownership.
“Data protection and security is critical for cloud and data center providers,” said Scott Feller, Vice President of Marketing at Credo. “Credo’s MACsec addresses this critical need with a 400G running wire speed, low-latency and support for PAM4 signaling while maintaining low power. Credo is excited to work with Innovium and network architects to provide data security solutions.”
The Credo CMS50216 Dual 400G MACsec delivers high performance, low power connectivity solutions for 100G, 200G, 400G port enabled networks supporting the IEEE 802.1AE Media Access Controller Security (MACsec) and Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) standard for 10G through 400G port interconnects. The device integrates the latest 256-bit AES technology, delivering increased data security to secure the critical high-speed data links between servers, switches and routers. It leverages Credo’s lower power PAM4 technology to drive DAC, Active Electrical Cable (AEC), and optical modules. Credo’s MACsec technology is currently in production and deployed in several data centers.
“With security becoming an increasingly important part of network designs in the cloud and enterprise, MACsec is becoming an important requirement in data center networking builds at all layers of the network,” said Alan Weckel, Founder and Technology Analyst at 650 Group. “As we look towards 400G and beyond, we expect an increasing portion of networking ports to ship with MACsec compared to previous-generation technologies at all tiers in the network.”
