Carmel8
The ‘Carmel8’ is an 800Gbps Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) engine supporting eight optical transmit lanes operating at 100Gbps per lane with PAM-4 modulation (53.125 Gbaud). It is based on Silicon Photonics (SiPho) technology and includes integrated Continuous Wave (CW) lasers, eight low-loss Mach-Zehnder Modulators (MZM), low speed phase shifters, and power monitors.
The PIC dies are sold post burn-in, and are both electrically and optically tested.
About this product
- Small footprint silicon photonics transmit side (Tx) PIC
- Integrated lasers using DustPhotonics Low-Loss Laser Coupling (L3CTM) process
- Superior link budget due to low modulation insertion loss and excellent laser coupling efficiency
- Modulators are continuously self-calibrated using integrated power monitors
- TEC-less operation
- 90 Ω typical differential input impedance
- Compatible with immersion cooling
