The SEAGULL Platform Optical DSPs are designed for 5G front-, mid-, and back-haul wireless networks. The versatile device can also be used as a Gearbox or Retimer mux for enterprise data center applications. Seagull 51 (CFD13201) is the second generation of the single-channel 53G SEAGULL Platform of DSPs for 5G wireless applications.

Credo’s proprietary PAM4 DSP architecture minimizes die size and utilizes mainstream silicon process technology to deliver optimal cost, power, and performance for the next generation of optical modules. Pluggable optical modules with Credo PAM4 DSPs enjoy the lowest cost-of-ownership and industry-leading performance while using minimal power.

Seagull 51 is used in the next generation of low-power, high-performance QSFP28, SDFP, and SFP56 optical modules that support 50Gbps SR, DR, FR, and LR applications with PAM4 modulation.

This generation integrates drivers for direct connection to VCSEL and EML, eliminating the need for external drivers and simplifying  the optics interface. The Seagull 51 is designed to utilize designs and software based on the first-generation Seagull 50 hardware and software for a fast, smooth migration to the Seagull 51.
